With lack of oil a major cause of engine failure and a new engine costing an average of £1413, Halfords is offering all customers a free oil check during National Oil Check Week (15th - 19th June 2009). National Oil Check Week has been set up by oil and car care company, Comma, to encourage UK motorists to take better care of their cars by doing basic maintenance tasks, like checking oil levels. Halfords already offers oil checks at all of its UK stores as part of the 'We Fit' service but, during National Oil Check Week, drivers will be able to get their oil checked for free as well as receiving a £1 discount on one litre packs of Mobil 1 oil, should a top-up be necessary. Halfords pledged its support to National Oil Check Week after Comma's research revealed that 17 per cent of UK motorists never check their oil. the full story
