Jeep Grand Cherokee Review
The Jeep Grand Cherokee was originally released in America in 1993 as Jeep's answer to competition from Ford's Explorer model in the USA. We first saw the Grand Cherokee in the UK in 1994 and since then it has gone through a number of changes and improvements. The latest incarnation of the Grand Cherokee was introduced in 1999 and an all-new model is on the horizon.
The Grand Cherokee is available with a choice of two petrol engines the 4.0 litre & 4.7 litre V8 and one diesel the 2.7 litre CRD. For 2004 Jeep has launched two new models the Platinum and Limited XS with the entry-level Sport model completing the line-up - prices range from £24,995 to £35,995.
A 4-speed automatic transmission is standard on the 4.0 litre Sport, 2.7 litre CRD Sport, Limited XS & Platinum models. Whilst a 5-speed automatic transmission is standard on the 4.7 litre V8 Limited XS and 4.7 litre High Output V8 Platinum.
We tested the Grand Cherokee 2.7 Limited XS to see how Jeep fare within the competitive world of premium SUV's.
