Chrysler 300C Review
We were surprised to see that the Chrysler 300C saloon has been with us since October 2005 and the 300C Touring was launched in April 2006. An in-depth performance make-over resulted in the launch of the 168mph SRT-8 saloon in August 2006 and the SRT-8 Touring in January 2007.
March 2008 saw the launch of a revised range consisting of the 300C and 300C SRT-Design available as a saloon and Touring with a diesel engine and automatic gearbox. The high-performance SRT-8 available on the saloon tops the range with the 6.1-litre petrol engine (the SRT-8 Touring has been discontinued for 2008).
The exterior of the 300C was refreshed for 2008 with changes to the rear fascia and rear light clusters. The rear saloon boot lid is also new and now incorporates an integrated spoiler and high-mounted stop light. The interior has been enhanced with a new instrument panel and centre console design. In addition, seat-mounted airbags have been added to the front and side-curtain airbags to the rear for increased driver and passenger safety.
The UK right hand drive models are built for Chrysler by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, where the Jeep Commander and Grand Cherokee are also assembled. The Chrysler 300C shares a lot of technology and components with the last generation Mercedes Benz E-Class whilst the diesel engine is shared with the current E-Class.
Prices start at for the £27,505 300C V6 CRD auto saloon through to £41,100 for the 6.1 V8 Hemi SRT-8 Petrol auto saloon.
